taking over as Chairman of the BVB Gandhi Centre on May 2, 2019.

PROF. B.V.SREEKANTAN HANDING OVER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN’S GANDHI CENTRE FOR SCIENCE AND HUMAN VALUES TO AMBASSADOR (RETD) P.A.NAZARETH ON MAY 2, 2019

At a special meeting of the Executive Committee (EC) of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Gandhi Centre for Science and Human Values held on May 2, 2019, Prof. B.V.Sreekantan handed over the chairamship of this Centre to Ambassador (Retd) Pascal Alan Nazareth, who had been a members of this committee during the 2005 -2007 period.

A few days prior to taking over as Chairman, Shri Nazareth inducted seven new members into this committe in repalcement of members who had become inactive because of old age or ilness. The new members are : Mrs. Teresa Bahttacharya ( former Chief Secretary of Karnataka ); Mrs Lata Reddy ( former Ambassador of India to Portugal & Thailand ), Prof. Siraj Hasan ( former Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics), Mrs Nazneen Banu ( Director, National Gallry of Modern Art, Bangalore), Dr. Jeevan Kumar ( Prof. Emeritus, Bangalore University), Mr. Wooday Krishna ( Chairman, Karnataka Gandhi Smarak Nidhi) and Mrs Yamini Muthanna (Bharatnatyam dancer and Yoga exponent ) .

As the long time Hon. Drector of the Gandhi Centre Sri Balachandra Rao had submitted his resignation on grounds of ill health , Shri Nazareth interviewed some candidtaes and selected Dr. Meena Deshpande, Prof. Emeritus of Bangalore University and Supervising Editor of the project for translating / publishing ‘The Complete Works of Mahatma Gandhi’ in Kannada as the new Hon. Director. He introduced her to the EC members on this occasion.

On taking over as chairman, Shri Nazareth stated that he intended to carry forward and enlarge the solid work of his distinguished predecessors and make it more widely known by creating a website for it and networking with Gandhian, Scientific and Human values organizations within India and abroad.
