Special Programme Gandhi@150 International Conference at Jammu on November 7 & 8,

University of Jammu and Central University of Jammu jointly organized an International Conference on Gandhi@150 at the General Zorawar Singh auditorion on November 7 & 8, 2019. It was titled ‘Revisiting Gandhian Philosophy and its Relevance and Applicability in the 21st century’. About 200 academicians from India and abroad some eminent Gandhians participated in it.

The Hon’ble Sri Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha inaugurated this conference and chaired its inaugural and first plenary sessions.

Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth was greatly honoured to be invite / deliver the key note address at the inaugural session.

Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth was also honoured that this conference’s organizing committee had purchased 250 of his ‘Gandhi : The Soul Force Warrior’ books and presented them to all the VIPS, academicians and eminent Gandhians who attended this conference.

Most notable among these academicians and eminent Gandhians were Prof. Manoj Dhar Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor Jammu Central University, Prof. Rattan Lal Hangloo Vice Chancellor Allahabad University, Dr. Sarika Sharma, Central Unversity Haryana, Dr. Syeda Zehra, Delhi University, Dr. Aaron Benavot University of Albany, USA, Maj. General Anil Khosla, Director, Army Schools, Prof. J.S. Rajput, former Director, NCERT, Dr. Savita Singh former Director, Gandhi Smriti New Delhi and the revered 92 year old Sri Ramji Singh former Vice Chancellor Jain Vishwa Bharathi University Ladnuun.

In Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth keynote address Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth presented Gandhi as a revolutionary who in a century replete with revolutions and 2 world wars triggered with national, racial and class hatreds and drenched with blood, had launched and successfully carried through a non violent revolution based on love and deeply anchored in Truth, thus revolutionizing revolution and spiritualizing it and triggering radical changes in India and the world. India was transformed from a minimally democratic and highly feudal and caste ridden polity into a constitutional democracy based on universal adult franchise with all caste, creed and class discriminatios banned; the world in which five European and one Asian imperialism had subjugated most of its countries was transformed in just 50 years into an international comity of 190 independent states.

Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth concluded by pointing out that Gandhi's greatest contribution and pertinence for the future of mankind was his non violence conflict resolution methodology and "Power of the Powerless" revolutionary ideolgy.

Shri Pascal Alan (P.A.)Nazareth address received a heartening applause from the audience and praise from the Gandhians and some academicians.
