Gandhi Centre Of Science and Human Values

Bhavan’s Gandhi Centre of Science and Human Values, in collaboration with Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering(DSCE), Shavige Malleswara Hills, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangaluru-560070. organised the National Mathematics Day – the birth day of Legend Mathematics generous Srinivasa Ramanujan on 22-12-2022 at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering(DSCE).

Dr. S.Balachandra Rao, former Hon.Director of Gandhi Centre, delivered a special lecture on “Srinivasa Ramanujan : His Life and works”.

Earlier to his lecture Dr. Rao gave a brief note on Bhavan’s Gandhi Centre and its activities. Dr. B.G.Prasad, Principal, presided over the function and released the two books reprinted by Gandhi Centre - Indian Astronomy – A primer by Dr. S.Balachandra Rao and Transits and Occulatations in Indian Astronomy – authored by Dr. S.Balachandra Rao & Dr. Padmaja Venugopal.

Dr. G.Venkatesh, former Professor of Physics, Dr. Padmaja Venugopal, HoD, Mathematics, SJBIT., Sri V.Ganesha, GCSHV and DSCE faculty members and more than 200 students were present in the programme.

Dr. Sindhu J.Achar compered the event. The programme begun with a prayer song to the almighty followed by lighting the lamp. Short video on “The Legend – Srinivasa Ramanujan” prepared by Aryabhata Club of DSCE, was screened Dr. Radha Gupta, HoD. Mathematics welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr. N.K.Geetha, Coordinator introduced the speaker.

The Prizes awarded to the winner students in the “Quiz” and “Poster” competition on Ramanujan conducted by Club Aryabhata of DSCE and the prizes were sponsored by the BVB’s Gandhi Centre. The Programme concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Suguna.B.V, a faculty of the DSCE.
