One Day Workshop for Teachers on “Indian Knowledge Systems – A Historical Perspective” was organized the Centre in collaboration with Hindu University of America, Orlando, Florida, USA on 13th April 2022 in Khincha Hall of the Bhavan. The Aim of the workshop was to provide an overview of Indian Knowledge Systems in a historical context, and to show its impact on knowledge systems in other parts of the world, covering a period from ancient to modern times.
The Workshop began at 10am with Bhavan’s Anthem and lightening of the lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. Meena Deshpande welcomed the Resource Person for the Workshop Dr. Raj Vedam and the participants. Chirnjiv Singh, Chairman of the Gandhi Centre delivered Key Note Address on line. Madhusudhan compered the programme.
Fifty teachers from various schools and colleges in and around Bangalore participated in the workshop. Participants from other states of Maharastra and Kerala were present. Dr. Raj Vedam, visiting faculty of Hindu University Orlando Florida USA, conducted the workshop in-Person with power-point led instruction along with Question and Answer session. In four sessions on ‘Narratives on Indian Knowledge systems’, ‘Epistemology of IKS and Old world civilizations’, ‘Impact of IKS on the world’ and ‘Roman Empire to modern world’ Dr. Raj Vedam presented his extensive research findings with arguments supported by proofs and evidences from various sources including archeology. Participants raised valid questions and discussion ensued. Dr. Raj Vedam with his scientific evidences clarified their doubts.
Shri H.N. Suresh, Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Bangalore Kendra was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory. He felicitated Dr. Raj Vedam and distributed certificates to the participants. The programme ended with Prof. Meena Deshpande thanking the Chief Guest, Resource person and the participants.
